I was a whisper in the tower, leaning close to you, My purpose hinged upon the sky you bade me view. My love, a moth to wounded lantern in the night, I held my breath and bent myself to amplify your light. A quiet bloom, a velvet anchor, planted in the deep, Believing that the harvest was a solemn oath we'd keep. But then a sunstone woke inside, a fierce and sudden gleam, It shattered all the mirrored glass of your accustomed dream. The compass of my spirit pointed to a different north, You swiftly drew new borders to impede my journey forth. You saw the quiet light I held become a blazing star, And called my rising clarity the cause of every scar. I leave the shadow, break the seam, I rise above the woven dream I leave the tongue that made me bleed, I rise to plant a sovereign seed I leave the page where we were bound, I rise above the heavy ground I leave the love I couldn't save, I rise from the destructive waves. You claimed a trust I'd broken with a lock that had no key, A constant, crushing payment you expected of me. You forced my spirit back into the clothes I used to wear, The small, indebted paper doll suspended by a hair. You fixed an anchor to the shadow of the joy I might have made, A heavy toll upon the value of the worth I wished to trade. I leave the shadow, break the seam, I rise above the woven dream I leave the tongue that made me bleed, I rise to plant a sovereign seed I leave the page where we were bound, I rise above the heavy ground I leave the love I couldn't save, I rise from the destructive waves. The phantom script you clung to simply falls apart, I claim the vibrant future written on my heart. May you find the quiet water where your troubled ships may rest, May true, unburdened healing finally be put to test. I walk the earth unburdened by the weight you couldn't lift, My sovereign clarity is now my one enduring gift. I leave the shadow, break the seam, I rise above the woven dream I leave the tongue that made me bleed, I rise to plant a sovereign seed I leave the page where we were bound, I rise above the heavy ground I leave the love I couldn't save, I rise from the destructive waves. I shatter the false mirror, I climb the spiral stair, The weight of old conditions is no longer mine to bear. My final vow of loyalty is whispered to the wind, I will not burn my embers where my story should have been. I am the mountain and the storm, the dawn I longed to see, And finally, beautifully, I stand strong and free. I leave the shadow, break the seam, I rise above the woven dream I leave the tongue that made me bleed, I rise to plant a sovereign seed I leave the page where we were bound, I rise above the heavy ground I leave the love I couldn't save, I rise from the destructive waves.
