Poetry really doesn't fit reality here! Humans will be Humans! The very 1st space strike happened aboard Skylab. it was due to NASA not thinking like a Housewife! There were 3 missions with 3 separate sets of Astronauts and they were given a certain amount of time to complete their experiments. The first set had no trouble, except they didn't put anything away. Number one, they were Men. Number two they hadn't been granted enough time to do that! NASA wasn't thinking like those who do housekeeping and hadn't even considered THAT as being important! The second mission had a bit of trouble finding the supplies, but they managed. However by the time the third set of Astronauts got up there, it was chaos! They could not do what they were ordered to do in the given amount of time so soon were falling way behind, and being chastened by Ground Control for doing so! Finally, fed up, they refused to work at all until their demands for common sense were met! Soon after NASA voted to allow Women into the Space Program! Coincidence?
Oh what majesty is this
That happens right before my eyes!
What miracle indeed is this?
Mankind at last has reached the skies!
Shining high above the Earth
Floating in the sky so far,
Silent above a silent world;
Brand new, shiny, Man-made Star!
Like a newborn fledgling bird,
But floating there on Eagle's wings.
Brand new in its ancientness.
So silent that it sings!
Mighty stars on velvet Space
Glittering there in diamond hues.
Blue oasis floating below;
Cloudy whites and Ocean blues.
Listening to the sounds of Stars.
Searching for the signs of Life.
Suspended from the things of Earth,
Quarantined from Earthly strife.
Man will never have enough
And how we pray for the right to be
Like the Angels higher up
Creatures of Eternity!
Some may say that this is bad
And keeps Man from his humbleness,
But nothing makes me praise God more
than having eye of this;
That Man may see with his own eyes
The tiny form of turning Earth
And see the puniness of his
In spectrum with the Universe!
