Silence— all I heard when you spoke to me. You resented it when I ignored you. I had no tools to see you. Years, after years… We played hide and seek. I hid. You sought. You jumped. I stayed still. And you fell onto the bridge you tried to build. Your fragile skin bruised. Blood in your veins. Did you remember? You loved purple. Stomp your feet. Maybe the unstable ground breathes. Like a slap after your tears. Did you hear what they said after the rain? “Close the window, some insects might visit.” If they tap on your window, say: “I don't know how to open a locked window, let me breathe.” Sit with me— you're still seven, still fifteen, and I am thirty.

The Bridge I Couldnt See
