how long is my shelf life?
will you still love me as i age?
will you still love me as i personally change?
will you still love me if i cannot provide your lineage?
will you love me as i am and what i’ll be?
will you love me when i’m crying, face swollen, consumed by emotion, and through all the ugly?
or am i just filling the woman-shaped hole of your life that you hope to see?

This poem was created from the perspective of a woman. All the pressures and anxieties in the back of my mind due to how society is structured to view women; being treated as just someone taking up space; fulfilling a specific role, and not accepted as more complex.
