I saw you while standing in the rain You danced beneath the golden sun. A rainbow stretched between our worlds But it was only an illusion. It’s my love story, Unrequited love, Piercing cold, like a heart struck by a hailstorm. You were the moon ; distant, divine; I was the earth, watching in silence. Stars shimmered in your sky, While fireflies whispered in mine. Our lights looked alike, yet never met. It’s my love story, Unrequited love, Crashing hard, like an asteroid through space. You were oil ; bright, restless, alive; I was water ; calm, gentle, flowing. We could never merge, For density wrote our destiny. It’s my love story, Unrequited love, So aching… I wish I could dry.
