perhaps it's that opportunity
that you just missed
that just whisked by you
as you were too busy studying
those little doubt plants rooted in your soil.
perhaps it was your future
rushing by you
in an attempt to avoid you
because you have this wonderful way
of ruining things
and it knows it could be so great.
perhaps it was the nightmare
that was waiting for you tonight
that changed its mind
because even nightmares know
we all deserve second chances.
