I am not the biggest fan of Whitman and Twain-
I know, sue me.
They were great people, I am sure,
But eh, I don’t like their writing.
Twain was bland, and what he wrote
Was confusing and local.
He was afraid to speak out,
He had the willpower of a light breeze.
Whitman could sound dramatic, sure
But I find little skill in what he wrote-
I too can blow the bugles and beat on the drums in a flashy fashion.
Whitman and Twain lived good lives I think,
But they had little new or original thought.
They were not revolutionaries,
They were just two guys.
Two good men, for sure,
But not worthy of such praise in my eyes.
I salute you both fo writing what you wished,
But I can’t say that I’m too impressed by it.
Rest easy old sould, I hope you’ve found peace.
You were more influential that I will ever be.
