The Captive

Held in a vise

Cruelly forsaken

Life has been hard

No sense in taking

Anything offered

It can’t be real

Life is too hard

No one could feel

Anything for the captive

Bound in his heart

Hard lines and words

When can he start

Seeing another world

waiting to heal

maybe a lover

wanting to peel

Away at the crust

surrounding his heart

opened by light

make a new start
