Apology

When we first met I barely knew

Then we got closer and sparks a flew

Not sure what drew me into you

Or how dreams of forever gave life a new hue

Days gone by filled with I love you’s and and tie dyes

Holding you close every night, playing house at sunrise

Sure I was confused but never did I realize

My fear and my hurt ****** up my desires

A past love’s attempt to tear down the sweetest lullaby

I fell like a cradle and tore your heart down on my ride

I could apologize every day for the rest of my life

Never meant for my love to cut you like a knife

Sorry doesn’t help when the trust is gone

I wish this weight on my shoulders was me carrying you home

At least like you said, it’ll make a good song

I hope your heart doesn’t hurt for too long

The days of hanging out back and brainstorming on the patio

Ideas in our minds and a love that was invincible

Though the pool fell apart

The light, it still shines

So I’ll sit here a while and remember when you were mine
