We scroll past bodies like it’s just content Another war clip, another “thoughts and prayers” event Kids catching bullets while suits debate the cost We all act shocked but we already know it’s lost And it’s genocide somewhere, but it’s “complicated” here Funny how the truth gets quieter every year Metal toys go bang and the headlines blur And the cycle keeps spinning like we never learn People starving on streets you walk every day You got cash in your pocket but you look away Say you “worked for yours,” say they should too Like the world’s that simple, right, good for you We burn our books like it’s Fahrenheit 451 coming true Keep the kids nice and clueless so they don’t feel blue Don’t teach them history, it’s “too **** sad” But the truth is ugly, but it’s supposed to be bad Millions dead in the The Holocaust, yes, it hurts to read So is slavery, and assault, just pick your century You think hiding the story makes the damage gone? Nah, it just means we’ll keep passing it on And kids get hurt and nobody screams Till it trends for a day, then it’s back to memes My friend’s got scars, and I’ve got some too We joke like it’s nothing, what else do you do? And nobody cares, or that’s how it feels Maybe they’re numb, maybe nobody heals We got so used to it we don’t react Just shrug, scroll down, “damn…that’s whack” Are you really gonna fix this place like that Posting black squares, yeah congrats on that “Raising awareness” while you sit and stare People are dying, do you even ******* care? I’m angry as hell and I don’t feel wise Just confused how we normalize all these lies How cruelty’s casual, how pain’s routine How the worst **** alive feels weirdly…seen It’s messy, and I don’t have a plan I’m just calling it out ‘cause I know that I can If the world’s this broken, at least say it’s true Don’t dress it up nice, what the **** is wrong with you?

Good song for this: Born2run Penelope Scott The amount of violence in the world has desensitized us, we hear of another shooting, of a mother beaten to death, and we sit in the comfort of our homes and maybe add a hashtag to your next post and keep scrolling.
