he took me by the hand and led me down into the water and promised i wouldn’t drown the sun did shine then, it’s touch was warm but i didn’t know it was the calm before the storm i felt the tide rising and looked into his eyes saw a glimmer of the moon, it took me by surprise the skies had darkened, my blood ran cold the water turned freezing, i was not foretold his grasp, it weakened and i felt the ocean take me echoed in my mind was his promise to not forsake me the sea opened up and swallowed me whole i wouldn’t have come if only i’d known
