Amy the tier-one junkyard cat upends When her ‘I don’t care’ cattitude offends She stalks, strikes, then eats Has no time for treats Mice used to be fast food but now are friends Sputnik the panther jungle cat has fun Laughing as all the humans try to run Some run as fast they can Some stop to make a stand Either way their denouement has begun

Junkyard and Jungle Cats

12/17/2025. ©️ 2025 Mark Toney —I felt it was time to write yet another poem about our two fur ***** Amy and Sputnik. Amy acts like a queen—independent and full of cattitude—yet can easily turn into a purr machine when she curls up to rest on my wife’s lap. Sputnik stalks through the house with the confidence of a jungle panther and is prone to howl in the kitchen in the middle of the night since it has the best acoustics. Together they provide companionship, comedy, and endless poetic inspiration. This poem is a fictional flight of fancy. Amy and Sputnik have great imaginations, but in real life Amy doesn’t befriend mice, has never been in a junkyard, and likes treats. Sputnik does not find delight in stalking humans to bring on their denouement. At least, not up to this point. ;-)
