“I love you” I hear As you wake me from my dreams, And I can barely comprehend. We say goodbye in a haze, Stuck between sleep and reality. It’s time for you to go, Like so many times before. I’m familiar with this part by now So I barely flinch at all. I wake the next morning Shivering in bed Because my heat, my heart, my soul Is too far from home.
