the city burned, fire lighting up the night sky. the bright cascade of red, orange, and yellow flowing through the sky a soft sheet of embers covered the city the warm colors and burning whisper covering the screams but even as I sit there listening to the beautiful burn the chaos at my feet a warm sensation heating my fingertips i feel alone a menacing darkness black overcrowding the safest parts of my mind times like these beg for company a cry for security and safety i stand and walk away for colors such as these only bring with them a remembrance of my october solitary
