Last Night Last night I felt the claws of darkness Serrating the back of my shadow And a lump of fear dropped into mouth My trembling teeth could not grind it well So I swallowed it forcefully, it got stuck in my throat Loneliness is the beverage I drink before supper Loud thoughts are but the boring cricket songs Trouble never sleeps, it checkmates my every move And rake burning coals into my bed to watch me burn Until the ***** crow at six without my consent With my dreams trying to fly with broken wings While my demons and their nephews stayed awake Playing piano and drums for my aching feet to dance
