The enemy rests in my head Drifting asleep but impending dread The dreams keep shaking me awake Eyes wide open by a snake Clench your eyes, release your jaw Drift back but don’t let yourself fall Eyes burning weary But never teary Heart thumping fast A mind that won’t crash When will the thoughts stop chasing me Or am I the one who won’t let me be free?
