The little bird hid in her nest
Always doing what was asked of her
Not caring how it affected her
Because everyone else was happy
But,
The little bird wasn’t ready to fly
The little bird sat in her nest
Looking out at the world
Wondering what it held for her
What her purpose was
Even though,
The little bird was too scared to fly
The little bird tried to get out of the nest
And fell to the ground
Away from home and family
She laid on the ground and started to give up
Then,
The little bird didn’t want to fly
The little bird laid there for a while
Feeling alone and abandoned. Someone
Picked her up, carried her to safety
But she wasn’t satisfied
Because,
The little bird couldn’t fly
The little bird was able to stand on two feet
These other birds carried her until
She learned her strengths
They put her on solid ground
Now,
This phoenix didn’t just fly….
she soared, a flaming beauty of light,
leaving all the ashes of her past behind
