A Jewish boy walked me home last night. He held my hand as I gushed about You. The soggy cool of Midwestern winter Filled our lungs and padded our steps. I imagined I was in your snow globe: You strategically shook the tiny plastic flakes And smiled, seeing them swirl Around us as we whispered. I hope that he thought about You, On his walk alone across the fields After we had said goodnight. That his globe water was a little less frozen, Perspiring in your colossal palms As you patiently wait to shake His world awake with grace, As You so love to do.
