Out of the void of nowhere Pressure builds behind eyes Tingling sensation of nose Vision drowned with fluid Programmed not to cry Quivering of lips begins A single salty tear drops Panic hijacks the mind Another tear drop falls— Wipe it away! Another tear drop falls— Wipe it away! Inhaling the air's freshness Choking away the sadness Unconsciously whispering, "Suck it up buttercup"

Hardwired Buttercup

Taught that crying and emotions are unacceptable throughout my life. Trying to unlearn this and find healing
