A stillness lies under the black sky, Too scared to breathe. ****** of light escape from the black velvet enveloping my home. I believe in the power of light, But not tonight. The darkness speaks louder Than flickers of hope. It shouts. Its echo vibrates my bone marrow. In a world made of shouts Silence is golden. If only I could hear it, Its light shining through the darkness. My thoughts trickle down my arm And drip onto the floor. Wadded up ***** of tissue are scattered throughout the house, tracing my blind stumbling from room to room. Faraway diamonds Twinkle tonight in celestial opulence, But they are devoured by the jaws of night. If only a storm would hit, And lightning strike the house, Jarring the dark into brilliant light, Then I could see. If only...

Even a storm would be preferable to being swallowed up by darkness.
