a young wildebeest makes a decision it enters the brown river it is swift and frantic scanning the surroundings nervously black eyes glistening it surges toward the opposite bank a nile crocodile catches it mid-waist the small body sinks its teeth crushes with the force of immense jaws the wildebeest instantly goes still she grows calm perhaps for the first time in her life she surrendered quite easily as if she knew something more
