you can tell when someone
has never stroked curly hair--
never pinched a sea wave between
their fingers, been gridlocked on
a Sunday, never been held in place
by a ringlet, blissfully stranded in a
net like a fish, wide-eyed and gasping
fully expectant of what's to Come.
