I'm not ashamed of my scars they are a road map of my life Once soft, now they are hard healed wounds of past strife at one time they ruled over me large, looming all-consuming Now I run my fingers over them easily they are just a small part of me I accept the troubles I've had have recognized sources of pain squashed them flat with my thumb pad and I'd live through it all again These scars may mar my skin but they are all just reminders that you have let go from within and take off life's blinders
