A Smile

A smile is a joy for the heart,

an expression of being glad.

How people tend to fall in love,

with a person who smiles a lot.

Yet, people smile when they are sad.

They try to keep their grief inside.

Some people smile when they are mad.

They hide their rage in pretty masks.

Evil can lurk behind a smile.

Friendly and attractive, beware.

A lovely promise of allegiance,

and then, betrays you to your foes.

A genuine smile reaches the eyes.

It emanates pure from the soul.

Well described in innocence.

Seen, in the lips of a child.
