The brush of the water on the sand sweeps like a clock. In, out, in, out. Breathe. Fluttering flags blow silently in the wind, Trying to escape the sailor's knot. Who's that? What are they doing? Thudding, thumping, upstairs, below, and behind. My eyes hunt for serenity, desperate for calm in the wild world of my mind. Look out to sea What do you see? Nothing. All that happens is hidden. Currents and creatures, my mind is ridden With fear and worry and loathing. The cloudy sky covers my mind Like a blanket hiding the truth. What I struggle to see is that that's OK, That the blanket can be removed. **Our minds are our own, we can see that our thoughts Don't make us who we are.** The waves, the flags, the sea, and the sky Become part of who I am. *I am the rock, the oak, the land I am myself. I am.*

I wrote this on holiday, feeling lost despite being surrounded by loved ones. It just helped me come back to nature.
