today i said
i couldn't let anyone else into my heart
because I gave it to you
and when destiny tore it to pieces
you were afraid to give it back
you smiled sadly
and learned closer
me catching a scent of you
a tear escaped from my eye
as you kissed me on the forehead
i felt my heart beating
again
maybe that's how you gave it back
but I felt its shards cut deep into my soul
and I knew
