Beautiful desire She is a ghostly apparition The wind is her hair Making gusts of Greek fire And her breath is cold as winter All I see is dark grey clouds While my heart freezes as I kiss the gates of Milton’s paradise. I’m lost. As I stand against the inferno, I close my eyes. Weeping. Feeling dark eyes boring into my soul. My eyes turn red with passion, and I feel like she is my mortal sin. Is her temptation so great that I can never be forgiven? Or is she a gift from God, another blessing I’ve been given? Like the angels wreathed in fire, she is stunning beyond compare Is she evil, using it against me? Or is beauty just her curse? And will that curse, in turn, lead me to my hearse? If I kiss her lips, will poison drown my veins? So that only the dust of a once fruitful life remains? But I love how her ghostly apparition flows through my fingertips. Like the eastern coast beckoning the arrival of long lost ships.
