over coke

over coke

i can no longer drink coke

without thinking of you, my sister.

i sip, and it spills itself

over me, into me

just like you do.

i too spill myself

over you, over coke.

we sip straight from the bottle

and i keep your secrets,

each a warm wind in my ear.

sometimes,

we turn the frothy

fizzy liquid salty

but swallow without question.

this is how we are,

spilling ourselves

unto one another, into one another

over one another —

over coke.
