If I grow old and find myself alone, I will take my breakfasts slowly At Denny's. I'll sit quiet at the counter On a swivel chair and Wait for a waitress' hand On my shoulder As she fills my coffee up. I'll make small talk and hope to hear, "How was your breakfast, my dear?" And I will remember my wife And miss my family, And wonder what's left for an old man... Knowing better times have come and gone, But thankful, for a little while, The comfort in a waitress' smile.
