The kid dreamt Day and night Running sprints, walking miles Talking to himself, gathering smiles The kid dreamt In rain and in sun Sweating in heat, splashing the mud Riding his bike, planting his spud The kid dreamt A world entirely different With love and joy, chocolates and cake A world where one can enjoy a view by the lake Where songs are sung, because they are fun Where happiness is for every one Such a world the kid dreamt But childhood ran like a bike down a hill And he woke up aged weak by the heart and weak by the bone Worrying about the million dollar loan He knew the kid was long gone, Only a thought , trying to stay in the brain Remembering those days played in the rain Those shells collected in the beach Shoving them in to pocket one and each The kid is long gone!!
