Go home and lock your door. Don’t turn back! They will see you! Run up the stairs. Find your room. Your room will be the most colorful one. Enter. You won’t feel the color inside . Don’t worry it’s normal. Open your drawer. Reunite old memories . Photos… Letters… That one drawing… You know which one. Take the sheets of your bed. Build your fort of feathers. Open that one box. Turn on the flashlight inside. Go back to the memories. Visit yourself. Say you missed you. Ask how you have been. Pay attention! Listen to the answers! “I can’t breathe” “You berried me alive” “I feel the pressure of the dirt above” No! Ignore the answers. That’s too much… Take a brake. Turn the radio on. Sing that song no one knows you like. Change your clothes. Wear that fit that feels like you. The door is locked. You can do it. Do it. Wait, no! The windows! Close the blinds. No one can see you. That was close… Now do it. Do your hair. Do your make up. Put on the shoes. Yes, those. Look in the mirror. Meet yourself. Watch as you dig yourself up. Clean yourself. Say hi. Notice how you breathe heavy. The phone rings. Don’t pick up. Not now. You are not ready. Not yet. Breathe. Don’t forget do breathe. Dance. No one is watching. The door is locked. keep the door locked. You probably should get a lock. Just to make sure. You can’t slip up. Look at the clock . Not that one. That one is wrong. The one above that poster. Yes. The one you bought to keep up. To keep surviving. To keep yourself hidden. The clock. It’s time. Say goodbye. Change your clothes. Stop the music. Clean your face. Redo your hair. Don’t forget the hair. Put the memories in the safe. Keep them safe. Keep yourself safe. Make your bed. Turn the light off. Unlock the door.
