Like a thief in the night You have come to steal my life Dark death, enemy of light Spare my children and my wife Oh Lord please keep my family alive It is for them that I strive I'm ready to go to the world beyond Ready to depart from them that am fond To behold the mysteries untold To behold the mysteries yet to unfold My soul belongs to You My love for You is is true I have said the prayers I remember I can see the horizon now, glowing like a bright ember My life and soul I surrender Wrap me in your arms, so mild and tender Take me home to the greater unknown Take me with you that I may be your very own My heart beats for my most beloved son O dear John your loving Dad is now gone.

The Poem Of A Dying Father
Inspired by the imagination of a sick father on the sick bed when he knows his dark fate.
