We moved into a new house just the other day while we unpacked and put our things away, we noticed a loose wooden board in the floor and remarked it wasn't something we had noticed before Underneath the panel there was a picture frame and in it was a photo of a girl inscribed with a name It said her name was Sarah and her eyes looked back at me She was not smiling and I wondered, who was she? She was just a small child, maybe eight or nine the picture was aged and from another time I'm not sure why it was there, hidden away I placed it in my window and went about my way It wasn't until I'd unpacked and finished for the night that I thought about it after turning out the lights I was so **** tired, I tried to fall asleep but for some reason I began to softly weep The picture of that girl was calling to me so I got up to find out what the reason could be What was making me feel like I had to see what the girl wanted and why she was haunting me ? I walked into the room I left the photo in when I opened the door, I felt a chill on my skin I could swear I saw her before me in the pale moonlight but I wasn't scared at all, everything seemed all right I felt this had been her room, her house, her home and for years she'd lived here and these were the halls she roamed I told her I knew she was scared and I meant no harm That we could both share this space and this home She looked right at me and then she disappeared She left as quickly as she had appeared I don't know why Sarah is still living here I don't know how she died or why she still appears Sometimes I hear her singing upstairs in her room the one that gets the sunlight all afternoon I read her stories and tell her goodnight The girl named Sarah who I saw in the moonlight I have told her that she doesn't have to stay but I know that I would miss her if she went away

I grew up near Gettysburg Pa . My neighborhood was part of the underground railroad during the civil war. Our home still stands and is now over 250 yrs old. We found many old things in the floorboards of our attic and it was haunted by 2 ghosts that I myself grew up with.
