monsters

she said,

"fight the monsters"

"what monsters?" he asked

for he was

sickeningly pure minded

"the monsters within"

she claimed;

"within me"

so he drew his sword

and gathered his shield,

allowing her to swallow

his gentle nature

in a single bloodless meal

"I will protect you"

he vowed,

never to be seen again.
