You’re my Colorado, My Colorado, so true... You’re mountains and valleys and rocky, rugged terrain. I belong to you though you never owned anyone, not even this short refrain. You’re white foamed rivers, steep trails and sunsets galore...you’re a b’zillion stars at night, high up in those Rockies; each time, more amazing than before. Why can’t I leave you, like a lover gone wrong? You’ve stolen my heart... And I’m havin’ to give it back to you—Right here, in this song. Sweet mem’ries sift lightly in my brain, Word that means ‘colored Red,’ Twirlin’ in this refrain. Too soft, too hard, Walkin’ mountain footpaths & smellin’ fragrant pines, Not caring how far the trail went or where it took us, we just colored outside the lines. No hatches to bury or unsung highlights would I be remiss... Sampling summers weather or winters’ icy twists, Just un-hugged trees and flowers growin’ wild, In sweet salad days, easy on the eyes, just like a sweet child. Pitch black blankets cover over those star-filled nights, Blue and purplish mountains, ya got me dead to rights. Singin’ oh de oh de ah de lay Givin’ homage to your displays. I still don’t know how much more I can say My Colorado, you’re my Colorado...you’re my Colorado, That’s all I can say... I can’t possess you but you’re mine, all the same. You’re wild and you’re beautiful and I wouldn’t call you tame, Your mountains are sifted right into my soul When I’m lonesome or heartsick, your mountains make me whole... My spirit soars here— you’ve got a big piece of my heart just like my ancestors, right at the start. Come down from the mountains and look up out through the door, You were here before I was and when I’m gone, I know, there’ll be more. It’s you that feeds my center, I tell you, you’re tried and true, With your blue and purple-ish mountains, You gave mother nature, way more than her due. You’re my Colorado, my home, sweet home, In my spirit and in my heart, ya see, it’s written in stone. When I leave, I long for your mountain peaks, And when I return, your blue and purple-ish mountains Whispers of love and then, gently speaks. You’re my Colorado, my Colorado, however you wanna say it, Beautiful majesty, so Quiet and rugged... Goin’ home one day But I’m glad I spent it here You’re my Colorado, My Colorado, Thank you, my dear.

Just how I feel about my home...my Colorado mountains, especially. :)
