“Mr. Whiteman” Hey Mr. Whiteman You tell me that I’m free Say I can choose my course Be what I want to be Walk along your streets Live in your society Still I cannot understand Why you’re holding back your hand Telling me I’m not a man like you Can you prove your words are true Or is the talking all that you will do Hey Mr. Whiteman You tell me that you’ve tried You give me figures That deceivers have contrived That tell about the ones Who’ve sacrificed their lives Trying to save our kind Somehow educate our minds Still we are left behind once more When will you open up the door When will you give me a chance to be more Hey Mr. Whiteman I’ll tell you what I see I see the rotting fruit Heavy on the tree Still you plant the seed Hoping I won’t see The hate that you still hold inside Prejudice you try to hide Destruction you have justified again When will I ever call you friend When will I ever find A place to rest my head
