She set sail, bound for the other shore With prayer flags singing in unison with the mover of the wind The glory of the empyrean brought forth rivulets of sweat She longed for the mirror of the night's cooling light And when the air fell still, she rowed throughout the night... The womb of the Earth murmured her sweetest lullaby Waves sang love's cadence in rhythmic measures Sleep took her gently into the realm of no mind Revealing the unborn beauty of peace, undefined... She prayed for the nimbus maidens to weep with joy-- Faith can move mountains and maketh the sky cry Raindrops fell like aqueous angels from heaven The Immutable One's Grace, given expression... Days passed without the other shore in sight-- She chanted the Heart Sutra with unwavering devotion "Believe it, and you'll see it", whispered, refreshing zephyrs She discovered the safe island within The Pure Land of the Buddha, pristine and true Sometimes illumined epiphany emerges out of the blue... A fellow mariner uttered-- "Ahoy, you won't get very far with your boat still tethered ashore" She smiled, and Love's promise arced across the sky The island of Self is no distance at all; thus, the seeker died And Love's untethered heart timelessly sighed...
