Nights like these Sodden summer air When the cicadas hum And fireflies float Flash photography In the breezeless sky Is when I best remember Our July In the rain When the sun has just kissed The horizon And all goes still Then comes to life That first summer Was honeysuckle on our tongues Sweet for a moment Then gone But the flavor Lingers And you never forget Your first taste Memories They are hard to grasp To keep a hold of Evaporating Like rain on pavement Dissipating into A Midsummer Nights Dream
