I may feel lost in the dark, but I refuse to stay blind to the light,
As a young Black man, I know I always have to fight.
Even when I’m stressed and problems arise,
I remind myself happiness is near wherever peace lies.
Faith is the key when my road feels long,
When I feel weak but I still try to stay strong.
Even with a heavy heart, I can learn how to heal,
Even in my broken moments, I can still feel real.
I carry more weight than most people see,
But I keep moving even when life slows me.
Pressure on my shoulders, but I don’t fold,
I turn my pain into wisdom, my hurt into gold.
There’s power in me they can’t take away,
Even in struggle, I’m learning to stay.
So I breathe through the storm and try to align,
I am not what I’ve been through—I am still divine.
And when it gets hard and I don’t understand,
I remind myself I’m rising as a young Black man.
