Burning

She wanted to be a child of the wind and the sea

a tornado leaving everything in its wake changed

to burn so bright that when she finally exploded

people would be left speechless

The trouble was not staying too long

because a twister over land slowly dies

it needs the salty sea air and turbulent winds

change can be the only constant

when the fire begins to grow

people start to run, a silent acknowledgment of

the flames that are already peaking from her hair

burning burning burning
