Extinguished

She thought her sadness made her fluid

Made her sink below the depths

You burned brighter than the sun

A perfect view she hadn't touched yet

She thought you were the fire

Always leaving her burned by your touch

Really– you're the rain

You put her out when you deem her too much

Her brain worked just like charcoal

Unassuming– till it was lit

A spark of creativity

A dash of whimsy to the mix

You were all consuming

Every space you must contain

Though she's on dry land now

In her lungs your words remain

Even still, her flames no longer burn as bright
