I was a junior escort at graduation, Made sure the seniors walked without hesitation, And as I sat in the back, I had a moment of reflection, That this moment was just a preview for my own procession. I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride, In all the people that I had grown to know. I left, too quickly, without saying goodbye, But I hope they prosper wherever they go. Next year will be strange without them, I'd grown accustomed to their faces. Next year I'll be on the podium, We will have switched places. You never realize how much someone, Has touched your heart, lit up the dark, No, you never realize until they're gone, And it always breaks me apart. Maybe I should've been more social, Maybe I should've been a better friend. Perhaps these thoughts are illogical, Perhaps I did my best. I was a junior escort at graduation, Next year, I won't need a duty for my invitation. I'll be sitting towards the front with anticipation, Reflecting on how I actually made it...
