Dear Eloise,
I see you
I know you might not know it but I see you
I see the drop of your smile when they look away
I heard the meaning of your poem when you presented it in class
the scars on your arms
the look that you get when your friends tell you to straighten your hair
I see you look twice when you open your lunchbox
squint your eyes when you raise your hand
I know you hate it
I know its hard
I know you don't know me
but I see you
people don't see you a lot do they?
the only see the blonde, popular, preppy
I see that in a lot of people
I don't see that in you though
I've heard you talk to yourself about your parents
their divorced
I'm really sorry they argued a lot
that they hit
I know you think you're alone
but you're not
the clothes you wear too
that black and white sweater
you're friend told you it was ugly
I wanted to tell you it was beautiful
you never wore it again
I know to be in the crowd you had to act a certain way
but I saw you
I still do
in the hallway everyday
I know you don't know my name
maybe even my face
because just like you
people don't see me a lot
but I see you
I wonder if you see me?
