I hold the memories I have of you Hoping, one day, we can pick up where we left off Although the end wasn’t so… clear It happened over a few years And I didn’t see it at first Until you didn’t come to visit anymore Until you stopped wishing me happy birthday And the calls were few and far between. The last few years are a blur Nothing worth holding on to Just two people existing Attached to what once was. It’s hard to move on when my entire childhood was built on you The photos are flooded with me and you It’s hard to look back and reminisce When everything I knew was because of you Everything I did, I did with you. So I’ll hold onto these memories Waiting for the day you call and catch up Or stop by unannounced on a Sunday afternoon Although I’m not quite sure where we left off.
