I’ll be home in... 17 minutes

I’ll be back for you

I’ll be back for lunch

I’ll be back for nostalgia

I’ll be back for sanctuary

and I’ll be home in 17 minutes.

Then the bus crashed, killing few & injuring most

I guess I’ll be home in half an hour

I’ll be back to catch up

I’ll be back to reclaim what’s mine

I’ll be back to face reality

I’ll be back to set things right

and I’ll be home in 17 minutes.

Then somebody walked in front of my car, spattered like transnational bugs across my windshield

I guess I’ll be home tomorrow

I will come back

just like yesterday

and the day before that

I will come back

just to see how much I’ve changed

and leave again all the same

I will come back

But don’t wait up

I could be

17 minutes

or

I could be a life time.
