i sense an anchor afar-
my compass fails to tell
as i try to make sense
of where it might be
i sense it somewhere
not too close,
but not too far-
i’ve felt it through
the light of my screen
i’ve seen the anchor’s eyes
in a rare moment-
they are light,
tender
but they are far still
