I watched the sunset steal the gold from her face, It's a thief, taking her from me piece by piece. She danced with youth, then vanished with a grace, She left behind a silence, but there's no peace. A glance, a smile – was that a chance I missed? She looked away before I found the nerve. Now memories feel sharper than a kiss, The things I crave, the things I don't know. I lingered long on what I never dared to speak, Afraid the truth would crack the glass of dust. But time, relentless, never waits for the weak, It leaves behind the timid and the just. Now time has passed and all I feel is this, The ghost of you and every missed-out kiss.

Missed-out

Wrote a Shakespearean-style sonnet for a poetry competition. Didn't win anything except my own approval.
