train station

the clock ticks as the days go by,

the wind pushes through the revolving door.

i watch as the whole world comes alive,

but the train i'm waiting for stops here no more.

we used to chase that classic red you liked,

but it's been a while since I've even heard from you.

you left me in the dust along these iron tracks,

like a sunflower still turning towards you.

i don’t want to know the reasons why,

your love keeps making me walk down the line.

but i don’t want to lose your love tonight,

even if it was never truly mine.

so i take one last look at the past,

and jump into that cold water so blue.

they say good times never last,

and i guess that's so true.

i bought a one-way ticket to a simpler place and time,

as the platform slowly fades away.

boarding that midnight train to Georgia,

to live in a world a little less grey.
