Auburn flames leap to meat These shaking fingertips And dance manically At the edge of my retina I'm homeless, freezing, warmed only By the embers of my old life. Last night I looked up and saw a roof Tonight I look up and see the stars Smiling, I cough and splutter, Inhaling that black spectre. I burnt my house down And grow warm off its embers

I Burnt My House Down
Auburn flames leap to meat These shaking fingertips And dance manically At the edge of my retina I'm homeless, freezing, warmed only By the embers of my old life. Last night I looked up and saw a roof Tonight I look up and see the stars Smiling, I cough and splutter, Inhaling that black spectre. I burnt my house down And grow warm off its embers
