On a quiet sort of day, Where the clouds looked like sugar cubes, You looked at me. Two eyes in the shape of a Camera lens, you photographed my Double vision as I held onto you Helplessly A throng of exuberant mourners, the lot of us Spilling out from the edges of calamity Coming together to dance, Inebriated on contact high and fresh air, We find ourselves on the battlefield Still not recovered from the last war, We go in unprepared for victory When it comes, We don’t know how to hold the shape of It in our arms Is it 3D like the sugar in the sky? Is it 2D enough to fit on my letter to the morgue? Red silk flows out of sleeping bodies The ***** in my heart wails I clutch onto the sideline Pitching myself headfirst To find you in catastrophe The movement and the alabaster Of your teeth Don’t show up right on the polaroid You complain to me with only one eye left My vision swims and I grab onto your arm again Helplessly I put a cloud between my teeth and Bite down
